Links I like! - Sandy Kitching

These are links to very special people and organisations I love to work with, in no particular order...

The Early Bird Design

My website designed by me dedicated to my design, illustration and writing.

Black Horses Friesian Stud

Tracey and Rynardt Venter are the owners and breeders of 14 magnificent Friesian horses, who do carriage rides round Cartmel for tourists and wedding carriages. Their original Frieisian Experience offers riding and/or carriage driving around Cartmel and on Cumbrian beaches. Living a mile away from me, Tracey and Rynardt are my close friends and I am so fortunate that they grant me access all areas to photograph their beautiful horses. I designed their website.

Friesian Horse Association of Great Britain & Ireland

The official organisation for owners, breeders and enthusiasts of Friesian horses. I designed their website.

Andy Biggar Photographer

Known as the dog photographer, award-winning Andy works with clients all over the world to produce stunning animal portraits and action shots. I have been on his dog photo training courses and I continue to learn so much from him.

Animal Rescue Cumbria

This animal shelter near Kendal was greatly supported by Alfred Wainwright when he was alive. Today, a team of dedicated staff and volunteers go to great lengths to look after animals in their care until homes can be found for them.

Animal Refuge Wetherall

The Animals’ Refuge was founded in 1909, when animal welfare pioneer Francis Cox launched The National Equine Defence League to improve the appalling plight of the 72,000 pit ponies whose lives were spent hauling heavy coal carts in the subterranean twilight of Britain’s coal mines. Today, this large refuge has all the modern facilities and caring staff to look after the many dogs, cats, horses, goats, birds and other assorted creatures needing new homes. After a visit to photograph the cats, I ended up eventually bringing home two cats, Cecil (silver tabby with a wonky neck) and Roger (black & cuddly), who are loving life in Barber Green.

Langdale & Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team

Saving lives and helping prevent accidents on the Lakeland Fells.

Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dog Association

The LDMRSDA is part of the volunteer Mountain Rescue team which covers the Lake District Fells.

Lune Valley Dog Training Club

A vibrant and supportive organisation offering training and agility classes in South Lakeland. Their Dog Agility events at Westmorland County Showground in June are brilliantly organised and attended by pooches from all over the UK.

Good Start Dog Training and Weetwood Dog Training

Sue Whiteley and Janet work together to provide quality training for dogs in the Kendal, N.Lancs, South Lakes and Dales areas. From puppy to adult classes, one to one dog training and help and advice with dog behavioural problems. Fun workshops too!

Ingrid Grayling Dog Trainer

Ingrid is known throughout the country for her successful approach to training all breeds of dogs. She works with working gun dogs and their owners, and she can help and train pet owners learn to understand their dogs. I created illustrations and designed Ingrid's website.

Mark Harrison Photographer

Travel photographer Mark Harrison has an ability to capture something new and unexpected in every place he visits. He has visited 54 countries where he has documented the ordinary and often extraordinary lives of the people. Humour is also a big feature of his work! Mark is also Chief Photographer at The Westmorland Gazette.

Lakes & Bay Communications

Mike Glover, former Editor of The Westmorland Gazette, runs a new type of media consultancy which helps companies, authorities and other organisations to communicate with colleagues, peers, customers and the media. He regularly writes for the national newspapers and Lancashire Life.

Based in Kendal, my friend Mark Knowles at Pawcraft make unique gifts for dog and cat lovers, from their very own pets paw prints. Whether that be a 2D Stone Print cast, or a piece of solid silver jewellery, they are items that you'll treasure for ever. Mark’s German Shepherd, Ushba, is one of my favourite doggy models and she even has her own blog!

Revenge Western Records Newcastle

I am called upon every now and then to photograph bands on this indie record label.

Dedicated volunteers run this charity based at Flookburgh, who raise awareness about safety on the sands of Morecambe Bay and have rescued many people and their dogs from the treacherous sands.
